Explore Palm Springs, CA

Palm Springs is a desert oasis unlike any other. Set in the Coachella Valley at the foot of several mountain ranges, this modern and vibrant city is just a two-hour drive (or short flight) from Los Angeles. For more than half a century, Palm Springs has been a playground for Hollywood celebrities—Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Elizabeth Taylor all visited here often. In the early 20th century, health nuts made their way to Palm Springs because of the city’s dry heat and luxurious resort hotels. Today, there is a thriving gay community, an eclectic food and drinks scene, and endless outdoor activities. Palm Springs is also home to one of the largest collections of Mid-century Modern architecture in the world. The weather is usually warm and sunny, so come prepared to relax and enjoy yourself when not taking part in the city’s many cultural activities.

Though many come to Palm Springs just to sit by the pool with a cocktail in hand, Palm Springs travel offers much more than just that. Consult this Palm Springs travel guide for all of your travel needs.

Transportation

Palm Springs is about a two-hour drive from Los Angeles or San Diego. If you choose to fly, Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) is served by 10+ different airlines. The best way to get around Palm Springs is by car. Although you can walk most places downtown, you'll want your own wheels to explore the rest of the Coachella Valley. You can rent a car, hop in a ride-share service, hire a taxi, or take the bus to reach certain destinations throughout the city and beyond. The SunBus system is convenient—each ride costs $1 and buses offer free Wi-Fi.

Know Before You Go

Visitors usually come to Palm Springs to relax by the pool or visit one of the many spas and resorts. But bring some comfortable walking shoes as well, as there are many interesting vintage stores to visit throughout the downtown area. If you’re feeling more adventurous, take a ride up the Aerial Tramway and go for a mountain hike.

In the Words of Our Guests

  • Everything about this house met or exceeded our expectations.  No surprises from the description.  Very clean, quiet, comfortable, and well maintained – and just a pleasant home to return to each night and start the next day.  Homeowner checked in by text to provide local guidance to stores, restaurants, etc., and was quick to respond to our questions.  We definitely recommend this house.

  • I’ve rented quite a few houses over the years in Palm Springs – and every one has some disappointment, but not this one. It’s the perfect size in the perfect neighborhood.  And, it’s beautiful!  The design and finishes of the house are flawless – you’ll want a martini when you walk in the door!  And it’s comfortable – amazing beds, fantastic pool and kitchen.

  • “From the location, to the amenities and stunning patio and yard space, to great host!! Rodney had a sweet note and delicious cookies waiting upon our arrival. He texted us to ensure we were able to check in okay (which was early). His hospitality and very adorable home was a perfect fit for us to spend the weekend as a family!”
